Oil Well

A very interesting aspect of Century city, is that in the middle of all the film studios,
and the lawyers, and the film stars and the malls, and the high rises, is the existance
of an oil well.

It's rather well camoflaged, and I thought it should be the last shot of the series.

Century Park Towers

These got to be the most ugliest buildings in Los Angeles. They look
like a thick pipe, stuck in the ground. It's in such prime property though,
and that's a tragedy. They overlook the fox studios.

The buildings were erected in 1961 and the apartments there were going
for, when I last checked a month ago, 1.5 million upwards for a measly
2 bedroom.

Interesting feature of this shot (and the reason I ended up posting it)
was to show how one side of the street had thick trees (they are not
as dark as the picture shows. If you click on the picture and look at the
biggest resolution, they are really a dark shade of green), and the
other side had naked trees.

Nakatomi Towers

Remember Die Hard, where literally blows up the Nakatomi Towers to save it?
Well, here it is. It's actually the Fox network's HQ. And it's also on the Avenue
of the Stars. Some street eh?

I had a nice overcast sky, so I got as close to the building I could and too a shot.
It came out better than I thought.

The Twin Towers

The Century City Towers are rather famous. It was the location for 2 very very
famous serials - Remington Steele and Moonlighting. The buildings themselves
are rather impressive, but not as tall as people might think.

Century City was a part of 20th Century Fox's backlot where they built sets of
mostly western movies. It was also the location for the sets of Algerian street,
used in countless movies portraying the Middle East. It is now a very elite
business and shopping district in Los Angeles.

The Hyatt Century Plaza

I took this picture of the Hyatt Century Plaza as I was walking by.
This is one of my better shots. The building curves to make a
concave pattern while looking at it from the front.

This is a popular joint among Hollywood stars. I've not been inside,
but plan to the day I sell Rash for a handsome price.

PS: Apparently the President stays there whenever he's in town.

The Bridge over the Stars

On the Avenue of the Stars, there's an over-bridge that connects the twin buildings
of 1801 and 1901. This is a view from the top of the bridge. It't not particularly
impressive in this picture, but it's a rather nice sight with there's no traffic and
construction.

Century City

This tree marks the grand entrance to Century City. This particular street is
called the Avenue of the Stars. I worked here, on this street for 2 years. It
is a very rich and famous part of Los Angeles/Hollywood. A few studios
are on this street, and a lot of movies and commercials have been made
here.

This week, I'll post a few pictures that I took during my last days of working
in Century City.
