The Grove
This theatre is in the Farmer's market. It's a rather decent place, and we go
there once in a while. In fact, we went there to watch Ice Age 2. It's a rather
cool movie.

Kirk Douglas
Probably the closest theatre ot our house, it's surprising that we
haven't been here. Actually, it' sinteresting that I don't go to Culver City
all that often. Should actually, as it is a pretty nice place. mmm, maybe
I will go more often now.

The Village
The last one from Westwood, this theatre is rather nice. We saw the Emily Rose
movie here. Speaking of that movie, Rash wanted to go for it. It was hilarious.
She was laughing all through the movie. But she will not let be utter Emily Rose
in the evening as she is afraid. :)

Bruin Talkies
Heck they have a theatre. But check out the movies they show there...
I'd rather shoot myself than watch that one.

Crest
In Westwood, near some of our favourite haunts, this theatre is rather easy to miss. Kind of
blends into the surrounding. And that probably explains why we have never hit it. Yet, that is...

By Force of Habit
To end the theme, we decided to go with another odd burger joint rather than the big M,
which is technically the closest fast food joint to our house.
We haven't been to this place, and I am not too sure I want to either. But we present it
anyway, as it had an interesting name...

Diddy
One of our favourite haunts in the whole of LA. And for good reason too. For 1 buck, you get the best sandwich icecream in the world... A scoop of icecream and 2 cookies - flavour of your choice. :)
H and I used to drop in every Friday until we stopped a few months back .. owing to our gastromical concerns.
Must have: White chocolate chip cookies with macadamia nuts and french vanilla
Must avoid: going there during the weekend before 11:30 PM. you will do several rounds looking for a parking spot, burn dollars of gas, walk half a mile and finally find yourself at the end of a very long queue.. and all for a Diddy.
And yes, they sell hot dogs and soda too.

In-n-Out
This is our joint of choice. They have the best burgers by a long mile. We don't eat burgers
often, but when we do, it's usually here.

Thomas
Here's another shot that was taken by Rashmi. This one was slightly better. And the
conditions were far from perfect. I was driving, and there was some traffic. So, she's
kind of done a good job here.
The burger joint, well, we haven't got a chance to go there. I have no inclination to
though. mmm, let's see.

Rally
The joint is near our house. I have never had the burger there. And the shot is not
that great too. Overall, a ruddy bore...

A bird in the hand is worth two on the box
We had intially intended to bypass this picture. But the shot had come good. and hence..
Note the 2 birds on the box. :)

Tommy's
We had high tea here the other day. Tommy's calls itself 'world famous'. The
burgers are good, but the world famous tag is nonsense. The store was opened
by a Greek named Tommy, who has subsequently passed on.
Rash took this shot.

Mannequin Dresser
This is the wall of a fabric shop a little away from our house. This unit of the shop offers sewing classes. So it doesnt look like H and I would go in there anytime soon.
But the painting looks nice and colorful on a bright sunny day. Im fact, I would think that this was what gave us the idea of the 'building art' theme.

Welcome to a Starry Night
Nice full mural on a wall by the street. It's one of those paintings I get lost in if I
stare too long. I did very little post processing. Didn't feel the need to.

Self Portrait
Every once in a whle you come across this unbelievably awesome piece of art.
This one is astounding. Heck, even the building below is a part of the art.

Vandalizing the Mural
Another mural filled with cultural icons. This one adorns a building adjacent to a forgotten
parking lot. Rather ghetto. My only crib with this structure is the vandal who signed(?) right
under Marilyn's left boob. It's not too noticable though. The whole mural was rather big,
so I chopped it up a bit.

The Asylum
What I liked about this picture was that the colours are so in place. There's a lot of sunlight
that hits the painting of the man, but none of it actually illuminates the bulding next door.
And pretty balcony too, that buliding has. The sky is rather blue as well. It was a wonderful
day to take pictures.
Some day, I'll get a tatoo too.
On another note, this project just hit a 100 days. Woo-hoo.

History is but the graffiti on the wall
Rash took this picture in Venice a while back. I didn't do any post
processing except the sharpening. It's a nice mural. Wish the chic
showed more skin though :)

Ten Yards
Previously, we posted a picture of Hotel Figueroa. Here's another shot of the building,
though in a totally different catagory. This was an awesome advert for ESPN. They
probably have a contract with the hotel as the current ad there is also theirs. This one,
sadly is no more.

Heart Shaped Ass
Many years ago, when I was staying alone in Trichur, I was watching this soft porn movie
on Doordarshan, called Heart Shaped Ass. I can't remember what the movie was about
or anything, but the name stuck.
While walking around on the Venice beach, I came across another heart shaped ass.

A long wait
So Venice beach has a lot of street vendors selling stuff. Rash and I ran across this
skeleton selling some skulls. I think he's really worked too hard. Maybe he should
just retire.

Now pay me !
Another thing about Venice is that you don't just get the usual people in costumes
you pay to take a pictuer with. You get ones like this guy. He actually carries a heavy
metal ball with him, with which he does stunts without ever dropping the ball.
PS: I know it's heavy as he let me hold it. (The metal ball that is... ;) )

Cokafetti
A small thing you may overlook if you form your opinions on just our postings of
Venice beach. Parts of it are sorta ghetto. Here's an example. This building and the
cokle machines have been there long before I started coming here. So, I don't know
what's up with it.
Nice brain farting on it though.

Harry Perry
Claims to be the world's most famous street performer, this guy has been roller skating
on the venice beach blvd with a guitar for a long long time. Rash took the shot as an
after thought, and Harry was busy entertaining some paying customers.

Big
Ever seen the movie Big (1988) starring the rather young Tom Hanks? In it,
a 12 year old boy walks past a fortune machine and wishes he was a 30
year old. The next day he wakes up in bed and finds his wish granted.
Yup, you guessed it. This is the famous Zoltar he wished upon. Be careful
what you wish for...

Tribute to the Obese
I don't get this place. They have a freaking lane for the fat. Unbelievable...
This picture was taken at Venice beach, where Rash and I hung out yesterday.
(Hung out?!)
By the way, Pritham, this is a tribute to you. Not that you are fat or anything. But I
thought you'd be very interested in know that there's a lane reserved for you if
you so choose to...

Stay Away !
As it was my birthday, tradition dictated that Rash and I hit the beach. We cycled from
Venice beach till Pacific Palasades. Some total 5-6 miles. And walked a lot too. This
particular shot if from the Pacific Palasades, and it's come out rather well. It's not
often that Rash and I get a shot that I don't have to do anything to. Even sharpening
was so minimal.

Mils ?
This is a board in my apartment garage. It's next to the gate, so the speed limit is
understandable. But what is a mil ? :)

UFO
Only in California will you see a UFO advertisement. This particular shot was taken
on Santa Monica pier. I think by Rashmi. It's a good shot, as I didn't do any post
processing except sharpening.
As for the Rashmi-Hriday count, of the 88 pictures posted so far, she can take credit
for 25 of them.

The Nobel Prize
USC is home to one Nobel Laureate. Just one, and he's sort of treated like Royalty.
Well, I thought this sign would be a good post. It's not a fantastic picture. But
hey, Rashmi took it!
Also on another note, she says that most of the pictures on the photoblog is her's.
Something that I dispute. I think one of these days, I am going to go thru the
entire set and see how many each of us can claim! :)
